An American Werewolf in London (1981)
American Werewolf in London
John Landis's classic horror movie is the shit. It is about two American students that are on a walking tour of England and are attacked by a Werewolf. One is killed, the other is mauled. The survivor, David , is taken in by the nurse at the hospital while realizing that he has become a werewolf. The effects of the transformation into a wolf are the best and the scenes where David's dead friend haunt him are the tops.

Night of the Demons (1988)
Night Of The Demons

NOTD is about a group of teens who decide to have a Halloween party up at the deserted funeral parlor. They accidentally awaken a demon while having a seance and the demon enters the bodies of the two women who are throwing the party. Steve Johnson did some of the makeup design effects and they are some of the scariest I have seen in any movie especially Angela and Suzanne. The story of how the demons came to be is cool, but they kind of F*%! it up in the sequels. They are OK movies but the first one rules the schools.

George A. Romero's Diary of the Dead (2007)
diary
George A. Romero does it again. The man who invented the zombie genre starts it back from the beginning and it kicks major ass. The film starts with a group college students making a movie when the dead start to walk the earth. The film is all "shot" by the students and it is in documentary form. The effects rule and the story is awesome. WATCH THIS MOVIE!

Silent Hill (2006)
silent hill
This is probably one of the best if not the best adaption of video game into a movie. Silent Hill is a town with a mysterious history that has evil lurking around every corner. The art direction, atmosphere, and the amazing cinematography are all taken stright from the game. The story is awesome but it may be hard for some people to follow if they have not played the game.

The Monster Squad (1987)

Monster Squad

The Monster Squad is a horror movie that brings all of the groovie ghoulies into one film. It is a great horror film for the entire family. It is not too violent but, it is not lame either. The movie is very funny and good hearted. It has good effects and a good story. And yes wolf man has nards!

Near Dark is a vampire movie is very different then other vampire movies. It is about a family of vamps that travel around the country feeding. It stars some of the same actors from Aliens like Jenette Goldstein,Bill Paxton, and Lance Henriksen. Like most Bill Paxton moves He has some of the best lines in cinema."Howdy. I'm gonna separate your head from your shoulders. Hope you don't mind none. " And the bar scene is the Tops.

The Mist (2007)

The Mist

It has been awhile since a really good horror movie that is not a torture film that is in the main stream of horror. The Mist is based on a Stephen King story by the same name. The Mist is similar to John Carpenter's The Fog which was written around the same time 'but has many differences. The film has a lot of undertones of how society acts in times of crisis, much like a Romero film. The visual effects are good but the practical effects are great. But then again the guys KNB effects group always do a good job. Over all a great horror movie with an awesome ending.

Day of the Dead (2008)

day of the dead

This so called remake of George A. Romero 1985 film of the same age is horrible as remake but an o.k. horror movie on its own. Zack Snyder's 2004 remake of Dawn of the Dead did a better job of retailing a familiar story. The film uses the same names of the original and that's about it.It also goes against all the rules that Romero set in the zombie genre. Beside all of its flaws it good scares and a new spin on the genre.

Phantasm (1979)

phantasm

Directed by Don Coscarelli.Phantasm is about Mike a teenager who just recently lost his parents and is worried about losing his older brother. So he follows him everywhere, including a funeral. While hiding in the bushes during the funeral, Mike sees The Tall Man played by Angus Scrimm. The film has some crazy stuff like spheres with blades and drills that fly on to your head to dwarfs with super strength.

The Blob (1958)

The Blob

The Blob is classic horror movie starring Steve McQueen. The is about a meteor that hits earth that has a pink substance in the core that is alive and eats everything in site. which makes it grow in size. This move is awesome. The special effects are cool even for 1958.the scene with the blob coming out the theater is the best. That scene might not be much now but in 1958 you would have shit your pants.

Army of Darkness (1992)

army of darkness

Army of Darkness is the last installment the of the Evil Dead trilogy. The film is less of a horror movie but more of a comdey with horror elments. It takes place right after Evil Dead II and so not to ruin part 2 I will not go in to much detail, but Ash is back and fighting more demons. A great side splitting movie.

Evil Dead 2 (1987)

Evil Dead 2

Evil Dead 2 is often considered to be a remake of The Evil Dead, however this is not accurate. The rights to show scenes from the original could not be obtained to re-cap what happened.

It follows the same formula as the first but with more blood and guts. The best scene in cinema is when Ash's hand get taken over by demons and attacks him. Any movie when a guy has a chainsaw for hand is awesome. The film also has the early works of famed fx artists Howard Berger,Robert Kurtzman, and Greg Nicotero .Definitely my favorite of the three.

The Evil Dead Trilogy

The unholy trilogy of Evil Dead are ,in my opinion , some of the best horror movies ever made.

The Evil Dead (1981) evil dead

Sam Raimi may be better known for his work on the Spider-man movies ,but he got his start with The Evil Dead. It laid down the foundation for the way he shoots his movies today. The film stars Bruce Campbell, the best B movie ever. The writing is just plain brilliant. The film is about a group of friends that go to a cabin for the weekend and they find this book call the Necronomicon or the book of the dead. The book opens up a door way to some pretty evil things. If you like gore and old school claymation check it out.
